PRODUCTION ENGINEERING


Developing the working model into a product is the concern of this stage in the development.

This usually requires an all-important additional stage of engineering to translate the one-off design into something that can be made in quantity. At Project Electronics Limited, we “Design for Manufacture” taking production engineering into account from the very start, so that the Production Engineering stage is as easy as possible.

PCB Layout

Mechanical considerations, such as size and shape, together with electrical and electronic requirements determine the layout of the PCB. Tracking and the provision of heat dissipation and EMC considerations are also dealt with at this stage. A Bill of Materials (BOM) is drawn up, specifying all the components in the design. 

Prototype

Bare PCBs and the components required to build the prototype are sourced and acquired. The required number of prototypes are built and tested to verify the design. Shortcomings of the design can be identified. Any corrections and improvements can be incorporated. Further prototypes can be made and tested. This step is repeated until no further changes are required.

Evaluation & Sign-off

You will now evaluate the pre-production prototype to ensure that the functionality agrees with the specification drawn up earlier. When you are satisfied that it works to your specification, you will sign off the design. It is now ready for production. 


Production Engineering results in a full set of production documentation, including:  

  •   A Complete Bill of Materials
  •   Circuit schematics & PCB layouts
  •  Software Source & Object Code
  •   Works instructions
  •   Any additional documentation as required

You are now in possession of everything you need to put the product into production.
