Functional Specification

Definition: 

A clear definition, in user-oriented non-technical terms, what the proposed system/product will do.

It should detail all inputs into the System, all resulting outputs, what rules are applied when events occur and what the resulting action must be.

It should also describe the normal operation of the product. It should not stipulate how the system is to be designed.
