Smart Grain Probe

Project: A gadget to help farmers monitor the temperature of their grains

The safe storage of grain is a  major concern for arable farmers worldwide. A major factor in keeping grain in good condition is strict control of temperature. But this is not easy when the heart of the grain is 4 metres from the surface.

One of our customers had the bright idea of using a portable probe which clearly shows if the temperature deep inside the heap is ok.

After some consideration, we came up with a design which met the farmer's stringent requirements of accuracy, very long battery life, and ease of use. The result was the Grainsafe Smartprobe. 

This is what Grainsafe had to say about the product:

"The Grainsafe Smartprobe is an innovative grain temperature monitor. It is designed to be left in the grain 24/7 and reports temperatures via an array of LED lights, this enables farmers to easily keep an eye on grain temperatures and also reduces to need to regularly climb on grain heaps. It can be used across a range of crops and grain store designs."
